what type of yoga is taught at Blue Lotus?
Blue Lotus Yoga teaches a style of Hatha Yoga called Anusara Yoga.
It encorporates a wide array of poses done with a focus on correct alignment usually with vinyasa flow.
do i need to register for a class?
No. Blue Lotus does not require pre-registration. yoga class attendance is on a drop-in basis.
you may attend any class, any time. please arrive 10 minutes early if you are concerned about getting a space.
what should i wear to class?
please wear what is comfortable and allows you to move and stretch.
most people find tank tops with support, tshirts, and fitness-type pants or shorts work best.
All classes are done in bare feet.
what should i bring to class?
please bring a positive attitude, open heart, yoga mat, hand towel and water.
sticky mats are available for free to use, but your mat is more hygenic.
Bolsters, blocks, straps, blankets and eyepillows are provided.
do you have a place for yogis to change clothes before and after class?
We use our bathroom as an all purpose room. Please be efficient when changing before class.
The bathroom is also filled with hair ties, facial wash, body spray and
lots of other goodies to assist you before and after your practice.
do you have showers available for students to use after class?
no, we do not.
can I bring my son or daughter with me to yoga class?
Blue Lotus welcomes young yogis ages 11 and older to participate in yoga class with you,
as long as you will be responsible for keeping your son or daughter from disturbing other students.
we are happy to recommend our YogaKids program for those yogis under 11 years old.
no children may be left unsupervised in the facility at any time. if your child leaves a class that is in progress,
you must leave the class as well to attend to your child.
how early should I arrive for class?
we recommend arriving to class 10 minutes early to ensure you have time to
sign in, change clothes, and get settled before your teacher begins the class.
how late is too late to arrive for my yoga practice?
we encourage our yogis to arrive 5-10 minutes early to class to
settle from their day and prepare for their practice.
we also understand that life gets busy and sometimes yogis are delayed.
we prefer that you not enter the studio if this delay exceeds 15 minutes
due to our concern for your warm-up safety and courtesy to others.
i have an injury/medical condition. can i still practice yoga at Blue Lotus?
usually, yes. for serious injuries and medical conditions, please consult with
your doctor before beginning a yoga practice. in general, yoga can be very therapeutic.
always listen to your body and make modifications if necessary. yoga should not be painful.
**please alert your teacher to any specific health issues you have before class starts.**

passes are non-refundable. However, you may share your class pass with whomever you wish!
why do you have a 4 & 6-month pass policy?
please note that all passes are offered at a discount to yogis who commit to a
certain number of classes within several months. this is our way of rewarding you
for a regular practice. please honor this policy and enjoy the savings offered for your dedication.
what forms of payment does Blue Lotus accept?
we accept cash, checks and visa, mastercard, and discover at the studio.
credit cards may also be used online to purchase class passes, event and workshop registrations.
what levels of yoga do you offer?
Level 1: beginners class which incorporates the fundamentals of standing poses, hip-openers, seated poses, twists, backbends, and basic inversion preparations. breathing exercises are explored as students begin to link movement through the postures with the inhale and exhale. Level 1 provides a nurturing environment to help you gain flexibility, strength, balance, and relaxation. a perfect class for those new to yoga or anyone seeking a refresher on the basics of alignment.
Multi Level: a more vigorous class where a faster pace, more intense and challenging poses, and the addition of jump-backs and jump-forwards combine to take your practice to the next level. surya namaskar (sun salutations) A and B, including chatarunga and upward-facing dog, are practiced. strength-building standing poses are combined in creative sequences. deeper backbends, more complex balancing poses, and inversions are practiced. a strong foundation in the basics is encouraged.
MAHA!: the most challenging practice we offer is geared toward students strong in yoga who wish to push the limits of their practice with an intense class adding complex arm-balances and inversions such as headstand, handstand, and forearm stand to a more vigorous vinyasa flow. regular participation in is expected. no beginners, please.
Gentle: a gentle and nurturing yoga practice catered to yogis newer to yoga or in need of a slower or therapeutic pace. this class incorporates breathing and movement and ends with a restorative or meditation practice to enhance your experience.
Prenatal yoga: experience how yoga can support and empower you during your journey through pregnancy and towards parenthood with a certified prenatal yoga teacher chiropractor, and , a 2nd time expectant mother, Michelle Marcus. the practice of yoga coupled with breath work and meditation designed for expectant women will help you adjust to the changes of pregnancy; it will also help you prepare yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally for childbirth and labor and for your life as a parent. our classes offer a space where you gain strength and flexibility, develop confidence and intuitive powers, and enhance your ability to relax. please consult your physician or midwife prior to class participation. partners are welcome.

does Blue Lotus have a lost and found?
yes! if you think that you may have left a belonging at our studio, please check our lost and found cubby.
any items left unclaimed after one month are donated to charity.
what is the Blue Lotus boutique return policy?
for items purchased in the studio's boutique, we have an exchange-only policy.
only unworn items with tags attached and receipt are eligible for exchange
within 30 days of purchase. all sale items are final sale.
what is the private sessions cancellation policy?
if a private session or massage is cancelled less than 24 hours prior to the session, there is a $25 cancellation fee.
what is the teacher training cancellation and refund policy?
before submitting an application to any Blue Lotus teacher training program, we strongly encourage
applicants to consider the time and resource investments required on the path to becoming a yoga teacher,
ensuring that the date(s) and time(s) chosen work for the applicant. the specified deposit is due with the application,
and is non-refundable. no refunds for any personal reasons are available after the start of teacher training.
there are no exceptions made to this policy.we understand that emergencies and other life situations do arise.
making up hours missed or completing the training in another way are options in the face of such events,
and will be extended by the studio director on a case-by-case basis.
if the studio does not hold the training, a full refund will be promptly given to every student, including the deposit.
